Text By the Bay is a new conference for NLP academics and practitioners held for the first time on April 24-25, 2015 in San Francisco. The key idea of the conference is to bring together the best academics creating open-source tools used in the industry with the best practitioners from startups and enterprises using it. Text By the Bay is founded by SF Scala organizers who created Scala By the Bay and Big Data Scala, but this conference is not limited to Scala stack in any way — although we will have Scala stacks covered well. There will be folks doing NLP in Haskell and Python and Clojure, and the key focus will be on the problem area, startups driving the solutions, and research in the era of startups.
There will be three kinds of talks: 40 minute full ones, 20 minute half-length, and 10 minute lightning.
